Belgravia doesn’t do Christmas by halves. A walk down Elizabeth Street or Motcomb Street will instantly tell you that. This year, Grosvenor is running a competition for the best Christmas window display, and the competition is definitely tough. The shortlist has not yet been announced, so there’s still time to decide on your favourites in the area. Get involved with the campaign by posting a picture on Instagram and using the hashtag, #BelgraviaChristmasWindows2018.
Take a walk around and see what inspires you.
Here are just some of the stores feeling festive this year:
Fragrance, candle and gift shop Jo Loves, created by Jo Malone MBE, is donning a red number this year in its window display. A Crimson red tree sits in the middle of the space, while on the outside, red baubles and flowers a plenty frame the tree. The twinkling lights makes this display particularly eye-catching.
Peggy Porschen is known for its aesthetics all year round, but arguably Christmas is when the shop takes its decoration to the furthest level. The doorway has been transformed into a frosty, white-flowered arch, which feels so magical as you walk through, and by night the lights begin to sparkle too. The inside isn’t short of festivities either. Pastel coloured cakes and gingerbread villages accompany the huge matching ice-white Christmas tree indoors.
Sophisticated interior design practice and shop Joanna Wood is keeping it demure this season. Branches with elegant, soft white lights frame the window on Elizabeth Street. The branches are accompanied by rich green foliage, while inside the silver hanging baubles glimmer.
Luxury florist Neill Strain is definitely not keeping it simple this year. The shop has gone with the ‘on trend’ colour scheme for Christmas 2018, with white, gold, champagne and silver nuances. Its doorway is a show-stoppingly decked out with frosted leaves and flowers, almost like a ginormous table wreath, with shiny baubles to catch your eye. A little bit Narnia if you ask us – expect the Snow Queen to walk through at any moment.
The shortlist will be posted on the @Belgravia_LDN Instagram account during December, so you can vote for your favourite display, so keep an eye out.
