The Pimlico Road Design District has long been known as one of London’s most important and well-established areas for interior design, art, antiques and fine furniture.

This internationally renowned design district has recently welcomed a number of contemporary brands, complementing the well-established showrooms that have defined the area. Pimlico Road is proud to host a series of talks, exhibitions and new product launches for the festival, enabling visitors to take a behind-the-scenes look into the showrooms of some of the most evocative names in design. This year, the district will also play host to a special late night opening on Monday 16 September.

Pimlico Road Design District Late Night
Monday 16 September 6 – 8pm

Join House & Garden, The World of Interiors and the Pimlico Road Design District for an evening of drinks and nibbles in celebration of London Design Festival on Monday 16 September between 6pm and 8pm.

The Pimlico Road District Late Night will offer the opportunity to explore and browse the latest collections at participating showrooms.

Pinch in conversation with David Kohn Architects

Oona and Russell will host a talk with award winning architect David Kohn of David Kohn Architects on developing a signature language. As part of their 15th year anniversary, Pinch are launching a host of new products across upholstery and cabinetry, which will be on display and description at their Ebury street shop during the festival.

Fine Line: The distinction between Art and Design

Tuesday 17 September, 5 – 8pm

COX LONDON
The Cox London atelier, embodies an art-design ethos where sculptural practices are used to create lighting and furniture. This hybrid of art and design have always been at the very heart of Christopher and Nicola’s studio practice. Visitors will get a chance to hear the design duo talk about their design practice and enjoy an exhibition of their art work and sculpture at the Ebury Street gallery.

Masters of Making: How to create the perfect seating arrangement

Wednesday 18 September, 9.30 – 10.30am

THE ODD CHAIR COMPANY
As part of this year’s London Design Festival, The Odd Chair Company hosts an interactive breakfast talk in their Belgravia showroom, where you’ll be able to learn and experience all about how to create the perfect seating arrangements from single day rooms, ultra-modern apartments to the grandest and most lavish country houses. The placement and design of an armchair, sofa and any other item of furniture can dramatically affect a room’s look and feel and this is what Design Director, James Cook, will explore more with you.

Collier Webb invite you to join them on 19th September for evening drinks and conversation as they unveil a very special collaboration with renowned interior designer Samantha Todhunter Design. The perfect opportunity to discuss design with an industry expert, this relaxed evening will also see the unveiling of a sumptuous window take-over designed by Samantha and her team. The collection, evolved from Samantha’s passion for craft and provenance, brings together her signature style of effortless, modern glamour with the world-renowned skill of Collier Webb’s craftsmen.

The Pantry Collection by Jamb takes a step ‘below stairs’ with a range of beautifully hand crafted pieces which continue to celebrate the English Country House aesthetic that Jamb is well known for. This new collection is made up of hand-crafted pieces one would expect to see in an English country house interior, such as a Pantry rack, a Plate rack, a Cutlery tray, stools as well as wooden and aged marble top tables. Luke Irwin’s new collection of rugs will be coloured entirely from all-natural, organic vegetable dyes revolutionising the rug making process. Coloured using plants, spices and minerals including turmeric, indigo, tomato and henna to name just a few. Additionally, the finishing process is completely organic. This collection is not only a step towards a more sustainable approach to rug design, but will also be less expensive than those using man-made dyes and finishes.

Ochre presents some beautiful new chandeliers, as well as some reimagined  icons, in a special exhibition of lighting and furniture. Their designs include the Aquarelles pendant light, made with a soft coral horsehair rim and supporting strips of handmade pastel coloured porcelain; the wonderful Cosmos Ash circular chandelier with hand-blown, solid glass discs, and the Calderesque Gaia triple tier pendant. The exhibition continues throughout the London Design Festival.
